Win a Book from the list of LOST Books!

In celebration of Book Blogger Appreciation Week, we here at the LOST Books challenge would like to give away a book that was read on the show LOST. Sadly this does not mean an actual on screen prop, just a brand new copy of a book seen on the show. LOST is a show that celebrates literary love through frequent allusions to books and authors through character names, episode titles, dialogue, and actualy book on screen.

Here are your choices:

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Carrie by Stephen King
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
Everything that Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
Watership Down by Richard Adams
(there are more books featured on LOST but these are the ones you get to choose from for this giveaway)

Please leave us a comment and answer the following questions:
1) Which book you want from the list
2) If you watch LOST, tell us how you want LOST to end!
3) If you don't watch LOST try to justify why you don't watch the best show ever! :)

And please, join in our challenge if you can!

Thanks! Open worldwide! Ends Sunday September 18th, odds of winning depend on number of entrants, no purchase necessary.

  1. I have always wanted to read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

I do watch Lost and I don't like to think about it ending!

I think I may be a few episodes behind from last season as I can not seem to remember where it ended up.... I wish I had a great answer...

  2. Fabulous giveaway!

    1) Hmmm, spoiled for choice... Watership Down please

    2) With Sawyer happy; with Jin & Sun reunited; with Desmond & Penny living happily ever after.

    3) There is no justification ;).

  3. 1. Carrie (it's one of his earlier books that I don't have copy of yet, though my mom gave me all of her's.)
    2. As for how I want LOST to end, I'm sort of in denial about it ending this season. I *would* like to find out what happened to Claire when she disappeared.

    1. The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
    3. The reason I don't watch LOST is because I already watch way to many shows.

  5. How fun. I would want:

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

And I don't watch the show because I missed it when it started and I didn't really care at first anyway...nowadays, I keep hearing how awesome it is but it's already near the end, so I guess I'll have to use DVDs at some point.

  8. 1 - Watership Down because anything Sawyer reads is good enough for me (but I could be convinced to read something else of course).

2 - I want LOST to end with so many questions answered, I sit in my chair for an hour drooling, while I wonder if another show will ever be as good as LOST.

3 - I actually didn't start watching LOST until just before Season 5 started. I'm now re-watching the episodes on my new BluRay and I LOVE it!

  9. 1) I would pick Lord of the Flies by William Golding
    2) Nope...I don't watch lost! (GASP!)
    3) Although my reason may sound lame, it's really true....I'm never home to watch it! I was going to when it first started out, but when I kept missing it and missing it and missing it (you get the picture) I dropped it as I like to see series from the beginning whenever possible.

Thanks for the great contest by the way....it's great to see classics surfacing again!

  11. I would like "Of mice and men" by steinbeck.

I loved "lost" up until last season and then it lost me. My employees kept me up to date on it though and I'm going to have to get it on dvd and catch up. How would I like to see it end?

Well revealing they are all dead and lost souls in purgatory and by doing something good, they will be able to go back to that moment in time and change things so they don't end up on the plane. How's that for far out there.

  12. 1~ My book choice would be:
Everything that Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor

2~ I do watch Lost, it's the best show EVER!!!
    I don't want it to end...but:
Charlie, Juliet and Jin alive and well.

Sawyer and Kate married. They are partners in their P.I. company.

Charlie alive and living with Clair raising Aaron on the island.

Juliet alive and married to Jack who is sober and one of the best surgeons in the country.

Jin and Sun raising their baby with all her dad's money.

Ben living in a hut in Zimbabwa with nothing but his memories to keep him company. Oh, and maybe a nightmare here and there.

Hurley living in his parents mansion with a super model girlfriend and weighing 180 lbs. He's also a rock star and Sayid is his bodyguard.

  13. This is a sweet giveaway!

    1) Lord of The Flies by William Golding

    2) Ooohhh! That's a good question! I want either (or both) Charlie or Shannon to come back. I want Juliet to wind up with Sawyer, and Kate to end up with Jack. I want Claire to get the chance to raise her son, Aaron. And, I want to have more answers than questions at the ending.

    3) Duh! Of course I watch it!

  15. I hadn't heard of The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares before, but after looking it up on amazon I know I really want to read it now.

Ok, I'm one of those people who don't watch it. My husband and I missed out on so many episodes that we didn't want to be "lost" so to speak. I think we'll probably watch it via netflix eventually.

I watch LOST and only wish I knew how it could end but that would mean I would understand what is going on half the time...the show I hate to love!

  17. Watership Down, because I've never read it.

I want it to end with answers, but still questions. I've watched since the beginning, and I love the mystery the show provides.

  18. 1) Everything that Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor
    2) I'd like it to end a little bit ambiguously or open-ended. Nothing like Newhart, mind you, but maybe with some kind of "reset" or new group of islanders implied somehow.
    3) Currently I'm obsessed with Mad Men but I'll always love Lost.

  19. The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares

Yes, I watch LOST!! I'm devoted.

End?? I don't WANT it to end! But I want Charlie back. And Juliet. And even Daniel. And I want Sayid to smile and have a little happiness. And I want Sawyer to move to Peoria and live with me!! (ok, that one is probably pushing it a bit!)

  20. I'm a little worried I'm out of place here - I really have no particular feelings either way about LOST. I used to watch it back in the day, but once it got to time travel it just started seeming a bit too ridiculous to me.

I also lost a lot of interest in the show once they killed off Charlie :( I liked him! Nice character, cute actor/accent.

It's hard to pick which book I'd want since they're all either books I've read or books that sound dense enough I might have trouble reading them! :) I've heard a lot of good things about The Brothers Karamazov, for example, but... hmm... could I enter for LORD OF THE FLIES, please?

    Thanks for the contest!

  21. 1. I would like to read The Invention of Morel
    2. Just so long as it doesn't all turn out to be a dream, and Sawyer lives, I don't care. lol. ;)

    Thanks!

  23. I would choose Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and the reason I don't watch LOST is because it started before I had heard about it and I hate starting a show in the middle of a season without knowing the backstory. Thank you!

  24. If I win I would choose Lord of the Flies. I do not watch Lost because we didn't watch when it started, but we hope the full series comes back as reruns from the beginning so we can watch it.

  26. I think that I will eventually give LOST a try via Netflix, but I simply don't watch TV. It just doesn't cross my mind to turn on the set unless I'm going to watch a live news event.

I've read most of the books from the LOST list, except for The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares. Please put me in the drawing for that one.

3)Oh, I have this argument with my brother all the time! If you don't see like five minutes then you have no idea what's going on...and I only saw the first season so I know there's a fog/mist thing, polar bears and other craziness but I couldn't watch now because I'd be confuzzehled. (If he gets all the DVDs someday I might watch it...)
